Amazing how many people today debate by finger pointing and using generalizations. I wonder if you even read what I said?
1-I never supported or worked on the “Southern Strategy”. In fact, I am not even sure I ever even read up on it. It apparently wasn’t on the radar in my part of the country. Yet, your wide brush of accusation condemns me.
2-When I was active in the party, I was the county leader of the Republican Liberty Caucus — which was basically the Libertarian wing. In retrospect, it was unfortunately that we were active in the support of Dr. Ron Paul, who was the catalyst behind the invasion of Liberty Party extremists into the RP — otherwise known as the Tea Party. That is one of the sources of today’s problems.
3-Since the Tea Party populists were also not involved with the Southern Strategy, this demonstrates how complicated the whole thing is and why painting people with accusations based on generalizations is simply not correct and may actually be counter productive. You may be alienating the “Enemy of your enemy”.
I know many good people who have left the RP and many other good people who are still there. Both groups have rejected the current actions of the party.
The first group left out of protest — of which I am one.
The other group has stayed to try reverse the trend from the inside. I don’t condemn them. I wish them luck as anything the can do to slowdown this current, poisonous transition is welcomed.
